GTA San Andreas Beginners Complete Guide: Controls, Early Missions & Survival Basics

Basic Controls

Use the stick or WASD to move. Use the stick or mouse to look around. Press the sprint button to run fast. Jump using the jump key. Enter vehicles by pressing the action button. Shoot during combat. Switch weapons using the weapon switch button. Driving requires accelerate, brake and handbrake controls. Save your progress often at safehouses—look for the camera icon on the map.

Early Mission Flow

Start in Grove Street. Complete the missions with Big Smoke and Ryder to learn the basics of gameplay. Focus on story missions marked on the map with blips. Unlock areas of Los Santos as you progress through the main story. Avoid police attention in the early stages of the game.

Character Attributes

Build Muscle by working out at the gym. Improve Stamina by running or cycling. Manage Fat through diet—eat or avoid overeating. Higher Respect helps you recruit gang members. Sex Appeal affects how NPCs react to you. Balance training across all attributes to improve combat strength and movement speed.

Survival Tips

Keep an eye on the wanted level—hide or change clothes to lose police stars. Always carry a weapon and armor when heading into areas. Eat food to restore your health. Use save points frequently to protect your progress. Explore side activities carefully. Focus, on main story missions first to unlock the full map and abilities.

GTA San Andreas Money Guide: Fast Cash & Smart Asset Investments

In GTA San Andreas, building wealth quickly opens up better weapons, vehicles, and properties. Here's a practical breakdown of efficient methods.

Early & Steady Income

Start with side jobs: taxi, ambulance, firefighter, or vigilante missions for reliable cash. At night, grab a Boxville van for burglary missions—raid houses for valuable loot with moderate risk.

High-Reward Methods

Gambling at horse racing (Inside Track) or casinos can multiply money fast, especially with strategic reloads if needed. Completing story missions delivers large payouts, with the Caligula's Casino heist standing out as a major payday. Trucking and quarry missions later provide solid earnings while unlocking assets.

Best Properties & Assets

Prioritize income-generating assets. Buy Wang Cars ($50,000) in San Fierro for up to $8,000 passive income after its missions, and Verdant Meadows Airstrip ($80,000) for $10,000 plus aircraft access. Zero RC ($30,000) offers another steady $5,000. The Johnson House generates up to $10,000 based on controlled territories. Collect the floating dollar icons regularly, as income caps daily.

Legal vs. Illegal Tips

Legal routes (story progress, courier, valet, asset missions) are safer long-term. Illegal options like burglary and car exports offer faster early cash but raise wanted levels. Focus on unlocking assets early—they turn into reliable passive income while you advance the story.

GTA San Andreas Main Story Guide: Key Missions, Tough Spots & Final Showdowns

The main story moves through sections. It starts with gang missions in Los Santos involving Sweet, Big Smoke and Ryder. Then comes exile into the countryside and San Fierro, where you deal with the Loco Syndicate and Triads. Next things get serious with heists in Las Venturas. The game ends with a clash back in Los Santos.

The path is mostly straight. There are not real choices that change the story. Decisions usually affect missions or small dialogue moments.

Some missions are especially hard. On there are bike chases—like parts of the OG Loc mission. Flying school and aerial tasks such as Learning to Fly and Vertical Bird can be tough. Stealth missions, like Madd Doggs Rhymes need planning.. Large shootouts demand good strategy.

To survive make sure you have body armor. Use cover whenever possible. When facing groups go for explosives or automatic weapons. These tools help you push through the toughest fights.

The finale, End of the Line, features the major confrontation with Big Smoke inside a fortified crack palace. Clear enemies floor by floor, grab health/armor pickups, and use elevated positions or heavy weapons against the armored Smoke. Afterward comes a chaotic chase involving Tenpenny. Completing Firefighter side missions beforehand grants fire resistance, which helps significantly in the burning building section.

Save often, build CJ's stats (especially muscle and driving), and explore between missions for better gear. The story rewards patience and preparation more than pure skill.

Collectibles, Vehicles & Side Missions

Spray Tags (Graffiti)

There are 100 rival gang tags across Los Santos. Use a spray can (found in CJ's house after early missions) to cover them all. Completing this unlocks powerful weapons at the Johnson House and is mandatory for 100%.

Collectibles (often called Hidden Packages)

- 50 Snapshots in San Fierro (photograph floating camera icons).

- 50 Horseshoes in Las Venturas.

- 50 Oysters underwater statewide.

These reward large cash bonuses, weapons, increased luck, sex appeal, and lung capacity.

Vehicle Collection

Complete all three Import/Export lists at the Easter Basin Docks in San Fierro by delivering the required cars. This is essential for 100% and pays well.

Side Missions

Finish key vehicle missions to the required levels:

- Vigilante, Paramedic, Firefighter (Level 12 each).

- Taxi, Pimping, Trucking, Valet, and others.

Also complete stadium events, races, and asset missions. Use in-game maps or online checklists for precise locations. Tracking progress via the stats menu helps ensure nothing is missed.

GTA San Andreas Essential Cheats & Practical Play Tips

Popular PC Cheat Codes (type while playing; "Cheat Activated" appears if successful):

- HESOYAM — Full health, armor, $250,000, and repairs your current vehicle.

- LXGIWYL — Weapon Set 1 (basic guns, shotgun, AK-47, rocket launcher).

- PROFESSIONALSKIT (or KJKSZPJ) — Weapon Set 2 (Desert Eagle, M4, flamethrower, etc.).

- UZUMYMW — Weapon Set 3 (chainsaw, silenced pistol, heat-seeking rockets).

Console versions use button combinations instead.

Legitimate play tips (no cheats):

Save frequently near mission markers. Build muscle, stamina, and driving skills early for easier missions. Collect all 100 tags in Los Santos for free weapons at Grove Street. Buy properties for passive income. Date girlfriends like Katie for reduced money loss on death. Use the horse racing save-scum method carefully for quick cash if needed. Focus on story progression and side activities for a rewarding 100% completion experience.

Use cheats sparingly to avoid reducing the fun of discovery.
