Turn SafeAllergy Scanning Checks Into Safer Choices

SafeAllergy's scanning feature has been created to be able to save the time dedicated to reading complex labels. It can detect possible allergens based on your personal profile by scanning food, ingredients, packaged products, cosmetics or restaurant menus for them. The site also explains barcode and ingredient-list scanning or product scanning.

First, open the scanning function and make sure the camera is at an angle that allows you to see the barcode, ingredient panel or text in the menu. When combined with good lighting and a consistent mobile phone, the text reading and AI functionality of the application becomes more easily understood. When photographing a packaged product, take a photo of the label and not a different part of the package.

Always be sure your allergen profile is correct, before scanning. SafeAllergy caters to those standard allergies like nuts, gluten, milk, soy, shellfish, and pollens, and according to their official website, individual users can also add their follow-up allergies. This personalization is important because it results in a product that doesn't give one single answer, but that is your own avoidance list.

Once the image has been processed, SafeAllergy can report an easy-to-digest result, like Safe, Caution or Avoid. Always check the highlighted ingredients, rather than the last label. When eating out at restaurants, the menu scanner can alert you as to whether food contains allergens, to which you may wish to pose inquiries prior to placing an order.

Results of your previous scans are also saved in Allergy History, and can be filtered by status and can be viewed by date. This can allow you to identify trends in foods and products that have been looked into.

Scanning should be used as a convenience, however, not as the only means of safety. AI and OCR are prone to error, labels can vary, and restaurant cross-contamination cannot be detected when scanning a menu. Always check the actual package and speak with restaurant personnel.

Build a Personal SafeAllergy Card For Any Situation

SafeAllergy contains a personalized SafeAllergy ID Card designed to communicate information about your allergy away from home. Your profile photo, emergency contacts and complete allergen list can be placed on the print-ready card. This is beneficial in many places such as travel, restaurants, schools, family get together, when other people needing to be informed of your allergies quickly.

Start by filling in your SafeAllergy profile. Write down the name of what you need to avoid getting into contact with, then read all the information through you created carefully before making the card. This is important in regard to the accuracy of this profile, because the card isn't meant to be a template, but your personal allergy information.

Then check for the SafeAllergy ID Card or emergency-card feature in the app. If asked to provide, add a profile picture; if confirmed, input or confirm emergency contact details. Ensure emergency contacts are up to date.

Before generating allergy card, make sure to check the allergen list. Make sure the spelling is correct, items are not outdated and that there are no important allergens missing. A correct list can be much easier to be understood by a restaurant worker, teacher, caregiver or traveling partner at a quick look.

If all the information is correct then create the print-ready card. SafeAllergy claims that its format would be for Wallet use so you can print a physical copy and keep in your wallet with you. The digital information in the app can also be used when sharing information with others. To provide protection, it may be helpful to store the card with the written prescribed emergency medication and medical information.

Use SafeAllergy To See What The Air Is Bringing Today

SafeAllergy goes beyond just the food or product checking to give information regarding the environment which could aid the user in understanding the allergy condition around them. It offers live pollen counts according to location, daily allergy risk, real time Air Quality Index information.

To start, click on SafeAllergy's forecasting or environmental section and enable location if desired for local details. Location-based data is valuable because conditions in the area or regions that trap the pollens can vary from place to place, and due to this there may be differences in pollen quantity. If app asks for permission, select location access setting.

Pollen section may record the state of the pollen and indicate which allergens are currently in high abundance. This assists seasonal users to schedule outdoor activities. For instance, if exposure seems high, you may decide to limit extended outdoor exposure time or close windows or adhere to the prevention plan recommended by your healthcare provider.

AQI information is shown in the air-quality section. SafeAllergy calls this the "air monitoring" function, to alert people with allergic reactions or asthma of current air conditions, and to help them navigate away from polluted areas. Consider the current reading more in the context of the environment than as a medical diagnosis.

SafeAllergy also offers location-specific information on allergies, such as local allergy trends, areas where the environment poses an increased allergy risk, and user-specific safety tips when checking outdoors. The added features can render the information more applicable than a national forecast.
