Sam's Club Scan & Go: Avoid the Line, Shop Easy

Sam's Club includes Scan & Go, which allows members to get through the warehouse without ever stepping into a checkout line. And this popular tool, which has been downloaded over 9.6 million times, allows users to scan item barcodes with their phone while shopping and pay directly in the app before simply notifying a barcode at exit

It is pretty simple: open the app, and after clicking on the Scan & Go icon, you can scan each item with a camera; at the end of your shopping visit swipe to pay using credit cards saved in Google Wallet/PayPal even EBT SNAP benefits. The app maintains a rolling tally, which enables shoppers to know exactly how much they are spending in the moment. Other features include cafe pick-up during a shop, QR code payments at fuel stations and the ability to add forgotten items post-checkout.

The technology is also constantly being evolved and improved over at Sam's Club. Latest innovations include AI-based computer vision to streamline exit verification — which involves reading members' carts as they walk through a blue arch in 10 piloted clubs. It is free for all members (Club and Plus levels), but non-members cannot use it, while there are transaction limits of up to $1,500 per purchase.

Parents are especially fond of Scan Go because it makes shopping with kids a lot easier, there is no stress in the long line. Scan & Go, which was originally released in 2016 as a stand alone app and integrated with the main Sam's Club app in 2018 has emerged an invaluable tool for smart shoppers on-the-go as use surged by four-to-five times during COVID-19-era restrictions.

Sam's Club Curbside Pickup: Shop Without Leaving Your Vehicle

Members of the wholesale warehouse chain can take advantage of its Curbside Pickup service, where they shop online and have their orders loaded directly into their car — no entry to the store required. Here's what you need to know:

Order through the Sam's Club app or website for Items labeled "Pickup". Select a pickup date and time at checkout. Pull up to your club and park in a designated Curbside Pickup spot, check into the app, then wait for an associate — they'll bring you your order and load it directly into your vehicle.

Free for all members with no minimum. As of October 2025, Curbside Pickup is free for both Club and Plus members with no minimum purchase required. Previously, Club members had to pay a $4 fee for orders under $50. This change makes the service accessible for any order size.

Availability and Hours:

Plus members: 7 am – 8 pm daily.

Club members: 9 am – 8 pm daily.

Orders are held for up to 24 hours after the scheduled pickup time.

How to Request a Delivery from Sam's Club

If you prefer having your groceries and household essentials brought straight to your door instead of picking them up, Sam's Club offers convenient delivery options through its app. Here's how to place a delivery order.

First, open the Sam's Club app and sign in to your membership account. Browse or search for items you want — look for those marked with a "Delivery" badge. Add them to your cart. During checkout, select "Delivery" as your fulfillment method, then enter your address and choose a delivery window (same-day or scheduled). Finally, complete your payment.

Delivery is free for Plus members on orders over $50. Club members pay a fee based on order size and time slot. You can order fresh produce, meat, dairy, and frozen items — they'll be packed with insulated materials. Membership is required for delivery, but you can start a free trial inside the app. Delivery not available for all items — some bulky or oversized products must be picked up. You can track your order in real-time through the app's Order Status section.

To save on delivery fees, consider grouping orders to meet the $50 threshold. Also, check the "Deals" tab — many Instant Savings offers apply to delivery orders as well.

Your Sam's Club Membership Card: Digital, Physical, and Always Handy

Sam's Club transforms how you access and use your membership card. Instead of carrying a physical card, you can store your digital membership card directly in the app, ensuring you never get turned away at the door because you left your wallet at home.

To access your digital card, simply download the Sam's Club and sign in with your membership number. Navigate to the "Account" section at the bottom of the app, where you'll find your secure digital membership card ready to scan at the entrance and checkout. This digital card works just like the physical one — just show it to the employee at the door and scan it at the register.

For those who prefer a traditional card, you can pick up a physical membership card at any Sam's Club location's Member Services desk by presenting a government-issued ID. To reduce waste, physical cards are no longer mailed after joining.

How to Pay with the Sam's Club

The Sam's Club offers multiple convenient payment options, making checkout quick and hassle-free. Here's how to pay using the app.

In-Store Payment: Scan & Go

The app's most popular feature is Scan & Go , which lets you scan items with your phone's camera as you shop and pay directly through the app. Simply scan the barcode of each item, add it to your digital cart, then check out using the app's payment system. When you're done, show your digital receipt to an employee at the exit. This feature completely bypasses traditional checkout lanes.

Accepted Payment Methods

Sam's Club accepts a wide range of payment methods through the app: Credit and Debit Cards; Sam's Club Credit Card; Sam's Club Gift Cards; Cash and Checks; SNAP/EBT.

Online Payment (Delivery & Curbside)

For delivery or curbside pickup orders placed through the app, you can pay using credit/debit cards, Sam's Club credit cards, or gift cards during checkout.
