Begin Your Journey With YouTube Music

Download YouTube Music is the first step to access millions of songs, playlists, music videos, and custom recommendations. Users need to make sure the device has sufficient storage space and an internet connection before installation. YouTube Music offers complimentary access but with ads, and YouTube Music Premium offers enhanced features like downloading music, background player, and ad-free music streaming.

For iOS users:

1. Go to App Store, type in “YouTube Music.”

2. Tap on “Get”, confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or Apple ID password.

3. Open app and log in with an existing Google account to link your recommendations and library information.

4. Give notification access to receive updates on new releases from artists followed.

5. Background play and offline downloads are available with Premium while free accounts can begin streaming as soon as they log in.

For Android users:

1. Open Google Play and type in "YouTube Music" — probably you have it preinstalled already on many Android devices.

2. If not already installed, press “Install” and wait for the download to complete.

3. Tap the application and log in using a Google account (most Android phones should have one synced already).

4. Allow for storage permissions if to be used for offline music downloads.

5. Early recommendations are often set based on existing viewing history when users log in a YouTube account.

Users can also navigate to the Home tab and search for their favorite musicians, save the songs, add them as playlists and find new music. In the long term, YouTube Music serves up more relevant recommendations in line with your tastes if you set up the application properly.

Discover Endless Sounds With YouTube Music

From downloading songs to exploring albums, playlists, podcasts, live performances, covers, remixes and more, YouTube Music offers a variety of music content. YouTube Music is different from the conventional music streaming apps in that it also integrates some of YouTube's vast video offerings, enhancing the overall entertainment experience.

When looking for music, the easiest place to start is via the search engine. Users can search for songs, artists, albums, lyrics, or topics to find the relevant ones. Users will be able to find live versions, acoustic versions, related content and other official tracks, using the search system.

The Home section serves as a customized treasure hunt area. YouTube Music suggests playlists, songs, and mixes, based on listening history and preferences, for various moods and activities. Suggestions for workouts, relaxation, studying, commuting or fun and entertainment suggestions may be found.

The Explore section is another way to find new music. Trending songs, new releases, genre and popular charted categories can be browsed. From pop and rock to hip hop, jazz, electronic and classical music and beyond, there are numerous paths to discovery in YouTube Music.

Playlists play an integral part in the YouTube Music experience. Users can add their playlists of favourite songs to the app or choose the suggested playlists. Collaborative playlist includes the ability to share music interests with friends as well as co-creating playlists.

Music videos are an extra source of entertainment. Video-enabled versions of supported content enable a user to have the option to view the performances or listen to them only. With Lyrics features it's easier to follow along and enjoy favourite songs.

If you prefer constant discovery, YouTube Music provides customisable mixes and recommendations, to help you discover new artists and songs based on your listening history. As users use the app over time, it gets more and more accustomed to their preferences, avoiding the time users spend looking for the music they like, and maximizing the time they spend enjoying it.

Create a Personal YouTube Music Experience

What is also embedded in YouTube Music is personalization; not just a list of songs to recommend, but much that plays across the application is driven by your listening behavior on this service. Personalised playlists and Mixes are based on listener preferences for a particular genre of music and are automatically updated when listener tastes change over time, rather than created once then they are not updated. These mixes vary in focus from what many listeners find to be their favorites, or more particular mixes focused around a specific artist or style the listener keeps coming back to.

This goes one step further by offering the concept of “activity-based personalization”, by providing auto created customized mixes of activities for each of the three sessions – Workout, Relax, and Focus – with automatic adjustment of tempo and energy based on the time. The Discover Mix acts in a similar way, rotating a selection of tracks a listener hasn't heard yet, and is likely to enjoy, given his/her preferences; the New Release Mix keeps that personalization fresh by giving a higher ranking to the more recent releases from followed or played artists.

In addition to automatically-generated content, the fully personalized Library organizes all songs liked, saved music, followed artists, and custom playlists in one place to bring structure to countless years of listening. Even with all this automation, creating playlists is still possible and this pretty much uses the same personalization engine to come up with suggestions when you're curating a new playlist, so even creating it by hand turns out to be faster and more relevant than starting with a blank list.

Enjoy YouTube Music Across Devices

For starters, YouTube Music is designed to seamlessly cross the many devices the user might access it, from phones, tablets, smart speakers to televisions. Any device powered by Chromecast attached can cast directly from the app and automatically transfer a playing song from a cell phone to an attached speaker or TV within a single tap of the Cast icon. This allows for easy switching between different appliances, like headphones and a living room speaker or between bedroom displays and devices in the kitchen on daily listen.

Wearable support takes that one step further, as YouTube Music operates directly on Wear OS wearable devices so that one can control playback, browse through content and even download to them for offline listening, without having to bring a phone along with them. Smart downloads are an option on a paired watch to stream fresh music that is selected based on the listener's recent play list and is suitable for an activity such as exercising or running, where a phone might not be available.

Android Auto integration lets anyone with a regular commute enjoy personalized playlists and Mixes on a car's screen with voice commands for playing or switching between playlists or Mixes. Handling cross-device queues has also been improved since then, allowing listeners to resume a session they had started on another device, or switch one in place of another, without much trouble. All the device integration combined means a listener can realistically play and enjoy a YouTube Music session during their morning commute, throughout a work day, a workout, and then into the evening without having to start a playlist anew.
